Restarting the Raptor service may resolve scanner issues and clear error messages. The following are common error messages that may be resolved by restarting the Raptor Client Service:
Raptor Services is restarting, please try again in 30 seconds.
No active scanner found.
Scanshell 800DX LED light not on (green)
Perform the following procedure to restart the Raptor service (Raptor Technologies Vsoft Client Service).
Close the Raptor application by selecting EXIT from inside the application.
Remove the power cable from the back of the scanner, wait 10 seconds, and then plug the cable back into the scanner.
Use one of the following methods to restart the service.
From the Raptor Technologies Service Manager:
On the Windows desktop, click Start > All Programs > Vsoft > Service Manager.
From Windows Services:
On the Windows desktop, click Start and type services.msc into the search programs and files text box.
Press Enter on your keyboard or click the search icon.
On the Services window, select Raptor Technologies Vsoft Client Service in the list of services, and then click Restart the service.
Internet Explorer v7 or later should be configured to enable Active X settings on each machine that accesses Raptor or in overall domain policies.
Perform the following procedure to configure Internet Explorer.
If you are using Mozilla Firefox v13 or later, you must configured the following settings to print and scan in Raptor.
In Firefox, click the Open menu in the upper right-hand corner and then select Options.
On the Options dialog box, click the Advanced icon in the menu bar.
Click the Certificates tab and then click View Certificates.
Click the Servers tab.
Click Add Exception, and then enter https://localhost:8003 in the Location text box.
Click Get Certificate.
Select the Permanently store this exception check box and then click Confirm Security Exception.
Click OK twice to exit the dialog boxes.
Calibrating the scanner ensures optimum performance when scanning visitor identification cards. Perform the following steps to calibrate the scanner.
Locate the scanner card that was shipped with the scanner.

Use one of the following methods to launch the Scanner Utilities and calibrate the scanner.
Launch Scanner Utilities from Start Menu
On the Windows desktop, click Start > Programs/All Programs > vSoft > Scanner Utilities.
Insert the calibration card into the scanner and click Calibrate on the Scanner Utilities dialog box.
Launch Scanner Utilities from Raptor Home Page
Log into the Raptor system.
On the Home page under Shortcuts, click My Profile.
On the My Profile page, click Scanner Utilities in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
Insert the calibration card into the scanner tray, as shown on the Scanner Utilities dialog box, and click Calibrate.
Note: You must place the calibration paper in the tray before you click Calibrate.
The calibration normally takes approximately 10 to 30 seconds, depending on the scanner model.
If the calibration goes too fast (calibration card passes straight through scanner), then re-insert the calibration card and click Calibrate again.
